Coffee Love At Metropol Athens Cafe’ -The Traditional-

By on December 29, 2015

You probably already know all about it, so I`ll just talk my part…

It`s the Metropol Cafe, at the corner of the beautiful Mitropoleos Piazza, in Athens.

It`s been open for over 35 years now and it`s really really cute!

I mean, just look at it…

The first time I visited the place it was a hot July day and the city -as usually during summer-  was “on fire” at 42 celsius degrees or something like that… I can`t describe in words the gratitude and relief I felt, sitting at a table under the shadow of Metropol`s trees and literally vanishing  my cold soda -it was probably a freddo espresso, not so sure after such a long time!!

This time I visited the place during the Christmas period with my friends and it was like having coffee at a dreamy place, a bit nostalgic but full of positive energy  -and Christmas lights of course!!

Metropol has excellent sweets, such as kataifi -my personal choice-, baklavas and tarts and as we noticed on the menu sandwiches and salads for breakfast.

I really enjoyed my double cappuccino and my friend N. her Greek coffee, accompanied by that delicious cinnamon biscuit -which I fought for but totally lost!!

And no, we were not that cold sitting outside, mainly because of those stoves fired all around us– probably specially made for Greeks refusing to sit inside the coffee shops, not even in the middle  of December!! 🙂

Did you enjoy my shots? How do you find Metropol Cafe?
